Executor Checklist

Where to start

Being an executor can be overwhelming and it is understandable if you feel lost as to where to start.

In fact, for many people, it is considered an honour that the deceased person has named you as an executor. However, it can be a time-consuming and emotional process.

That’s where State Trustees comes in. With almost 80 years of experience in dealing with estate administration, we can help you navigate this difficult time.

About the Executor Checklist

Our checklist has been created to help an executor who is about to obtain a grant of probate or an executor who is already in the process of administering an estate.

A Grant of Probate ensures that the will is valid, and that you have the Court’s permission to fulfil your responsibilities as an executor. If you need help in this process, State Trustees can also help you get started.

What the Executor Checklist includes

In the downloadable PDF Estate Administration Checklist you will find:

  • An outline of the roles and legal responsibilities of an executor
  • A detailed checklist of the various estate administration tasks
  • Information about applying for a grant of probate
