Your Financial Administration Journey

Welcome to State Trustees. As your administrator, we will look after your financial and legal affairs, so you don’t have to worry.

Introducing you to State Trustees

We are a Victorian Government-backed company with over 85 years of experience supporting the Victorian community.

The Victorian Civil an Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) has chosen us to be your administrator. We help around 9,000 Victorians like you with their money, the things they own and some legal matters.

Steps to becoming a client

We understand that having a new administrator might make you feel unsure about what to expect. This is what you can expect as a new client.
  1. Someone who knows you — like a family member or social worker —applied to VCAT if they thought you needed help managing your money.

  2. VCAT reviewed this application and appointed us to manage your financial and legal affairs.

VCAT sends us your details so we can contact you and start helping you.

  3. We let Government agencies like Medicare and Centrelink know that we are helping you. This happens once we get your details from VCAT, which is usually around two weeks after we were appointed by VCAT.

  4. We will call you to introduce ourselves and to organise a time to visit you. Here’s how you can prepare for our visit.

  5. Together, we will create your budget – a plan for how your money will be spent and saved. And protect what is yours.

  6. We continue to support your everyday needs so that you don’t have to worry. You can contact us whenever you need our help.

  7. We review your budget (usually every year) to make sure it still meets your needs.

  8. VCAT checks every three years (or earlier if you ask) to make sure you still need an administrator and that the right person or company is supporting you.
