What is probate?

15 November 2023

Probate is a critical legal step that is required before a legal personal representative, also known as an executor, can administer a person’s estate and distribute it to the beneficiaries. Simply, it means the court issues a document confirming that the will is valid. It also confirms the appointment of the executor which is officially called a grant of representation.
