Is a Power of Attorney and a will the same thing?

30 May 2025

No. A Power of Attorney is the person you legally appoint to make decisions on your behalf when you are alive but do not have the capacity to do so. A will documents your wishes about distributing your assets and other wealth in the event of your death. To learn more, visit our State Trustees’ wills page.
