Victorian artists wanted for major Fed Square exhibition
In its 12th year, State Trustees CONNECTED Art Exhibition, which celebrates artists with a disability or experience of mental illness, is calling for entries from local groups and residents.
The annual exhibition will be held at Fed Square in October and celebrates artistic talent, offering a platform for people with a disability or experience of mental illness to showcase their talents in painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, multimedia and photography.
This year’s exhibition also offers the winning entry $1000 plus the opportunity to be showcased at the prestigious No Vacancy gallery at Fed Square. Second and third cash prizes, a People’s Choice Award and an Office of the Public Advocate Award are also provided and each artist is able to offer their work for sale.
State Trustees CEO Craig Dent said last year’s exhibition drew a great response from artists and gallery visitors from around the world and hoped locals would enter again for 2014.
“Last year we saw 171 artists from across the state showcase their work,” he said.
“We believe this is the largest exhibition of its kind in Victorian, State Trustees is proud to be able to provide such a valuable opportunity for participating artists and to showcase the variety of work being produced throughout the state.”
The State Trustees CONNECTED Art Exhibition will be held at Federation Square from 16-28 October 2014. Entries close 22 August. For more details on submitting artwork for CONNECTED 2014
