Guardianship and Administration Seminars for industry professionals

Guardianship and administration involves the protection of adults whose decision-making is impaired as a result of their disability, by means of appointing a trusted party to act and make decisions on their behalf.

This seminar is aimed at industry professionals in the areas of aged care, hospitals, mental health, allied health and social work fields.

The purpose is to provide you with an understanding of the role VCAT, OPA and State Trustees hold in providing guardianship and administration services to vulnerable Victorians.

The session will cover information on the available protective measures, the process of appointing a guardian and/or administrator as well as recommendations on how and when professionals can best access each party on behalf of their patients. There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions to each of the body representatives.

When do these seminars run?

The sessions are held quarterly and will run for up to 90 minutes with time for questions and general discussion.

The latest seminar was held at Werribee Hospital on the 5th of December 2018. The next seminar is yet to be confirmed.
