State Trustees to move closer to its customers

02 April 2009

State Trustees today announced it will move closer to its customers by establishing service centres across suburban Melbourne and increasing its presence in regional Victoria.

State Trustees’ Chairman, Julie Elliott, said the announcement follows a State Trustees’ Board decision to commission a three-month investigation to determine the most appropriate suburbs and locations across Victoria for State Trustees’ service centres, after a preliminary report found decentralising would improve service to customers.

“Today is an important day in the 70 year history of State Trustees, as we make a commitment to move closer to the tens of thousands of Victorians we support throughout suburban Melbourne and regional Victoria,” she said.

“State Trustees is a proudly Victorian company, and we are delighted and proud to be able to take this next step to help ensure we can meet the growing and changing needs of Victorians in the future,” she said.

State Trustees’ Managing Director, Mr Fitzgerald said Victorian communities are facing rapid change with ageing populations and an increase in mental health issues already impacting society. He said the decision reflects State Trustees commitment to make sure we are best positioned to help the community meet these challenges.

“We already play an active role in the community through our extensive wills, estate planning, deceased estates and enduring power of attorney services, as well as providing services to support vulnerable Victorians. We look forward to moving our offices to where more Victorians live so we can provide even better support to more people,” he said.

Mr Fitzgerald said State Trustees is supporting victims of the Black Saturday bushfires by rewriting wills, creating trusts, administering deceased estates and providing financial planning assistance to help those Victorians get back on their feet.

“We look forward to being able to connect with more Victorians and help more people make the most of life’s opportunities, and overcome life’s challenges,” he said.

State Trustees is the Victorian Government owned trustee that provides a range of services to support all Victorians. Services include Wills, deceased estate administration, enduring powers of attorney, trusts, financial planning, tax and genealogical assistance. State Trustees also acts as the legal and financial administrator on appointment by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) for people without capacity.

State Trustees head office is currently located at 168 Exhibition Street, Melbourne.
