Julie A Elliott, MBA (Exec), BEc, FCA, MAICD, SA Fin
Appointed: 5 March 2008 (as Director), 1 December 2008 (as Chair)
Committees: Chair of the State Trustees Limited Remuneration Committee and Member of the Investments, Compliance and Audit Committees.
Experience: Julie is a Chartered Accountant and has a wealth of experience in both Global Corporations and high-profile public sector boards spanning more than 20 years. Julie is currently Regional General Manager for the Westpac Group.
Julie has held a range of senior and professional positions, including Strategic Consulting for Firstwater, Global Head of Sales and Service, Payments, National Australia Bank, General Manager, Strategy, Marketing and Product Development with MLC Corporate Solutions and Senior Audit Manager with KPMG.
Julie was on the Board of Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board from 2001 to 2007 and President and Chair from 2005 to 2007, she also chaired the Audit Committee. During her time as Chair she played a leading role in the recruitment of a new CEO and driving a cultural change agenda that transformed the organisation.
Julie is a graduate of Leadership Victoria (formerly Williamson Community Leadership program).

Anthony Fitzgerald, BBus, CPA, MAICD
Appointed: 25 September 2003
Committees: Member of State Trustees Limited Australia Foundation, Compliance, Investment and Remuneration Committees.
Experience: Over the last 29 years, Anthony Fitzgerald has gained extensive financial services experience from a number of senior roles in the National Australia Bank Group, both in Australia and overseas. These include Strategy Adviser, Global Business Financial Services, and Head of Business Marketing, and Business Financial Services Australia. His experience in the NAB group covered the areas of strategy, marketing, organisational planning, credit analysis, sales, and customer and outlet management.
Anthony joined State Trustees in 2002 as General Manager Estate Planning Solutions looking after Estate Management, Wills, Attorneyships, and Trusts and has been Managing Director since September 2003.
Anthony holds a Bachelor of Business Accounting from the Queensland University of Technology, is a CPA, and is currently National President of the Trustee Companies Association.

Paula M Allen, CFA, FCA
Appointed: 1 December 2008
Committees: Chair of the State Trustees Limited Investment Committee and Member of the Compliance Committee.
Experience: Paula has held a range of leadership positions, predominantly in industry super and funds management. She was previously CEO of LUCRF Super, which under her leadership entered the BRW Top 500 Private Companies and became one of Australia’s fastest growing businesses. This was further recognised in industry awards, including the ‘Rising Star’ award for the industry. Paula helped establish a funds management business at Salta Properties in her role as Operations Manager, and later enhanced the development of the Bellwether Group, initially as Chairman and later as CEO. Other positions Paula has held include Australian based roles (including strategic and operational roles at Colonial Investments and Bankers Trust), as well as overseas based roles (predominantly in China and New York).

Annette W Broadfoot, MBA, B Bus (Acc)
Appointed: 1 December 2008
Committees: Member of the State Trustees Limited Audit and Investment Committees.
Experience: Annette’s work and relationships with the Victorian Government, various Ministers, Treasury, Chiefs of Staff, Agencies and Authorities – and her experience with Transport Accident Commission and Victorian Work Cover Authority – positions her with the skills appropriate to the requirements of State Trustees as a State Owned Company. Additionally, her 20 years experience in the professional services sector with the ‘Big 4’ accounting firms embeds a fundamental commerciality required as a member of the board of State Trustees. Annette has previously been a Partner with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu where she established and led the National Board Advisory practice into Financial and Government Services. She has also worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers global firm across Australia, London and New York. Annette was also a Senior Lecturer at Monash University, (Accounting and Finance).
Annette manages her own private governance and Board evaluation consulting practice and is currently studying for her doctorate of business – the effectiveness of Australian Boards.

Patrick Burroughs
Appointed: 1 May 2008
Committees: Chairman of the State Trustees Limited Audit Committee and Member of the Remuneration Committee.
Experience: Patrick is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in a range of industries including the financial services, building and construction, manufacturing and Government (health, treasury and finance) sectors.
Patrick is currently Chairman of PFS Nominees Pty Ltd and a director of MLC Nominees Pty Ltd and Newlist Nominees Pty Ltd, all corporate trustees of large public offer superannuation funds administered by MLC Ltd, a subsidiary of National Australia Bank Ltd. He is also a Director of Pacifica Group Ltd, the Royal Children’s Hospital, The Companies Auditors and Liquidators Disciplinary (CALD) Board and Australia’s Open Garden Scheme.
In the past Patrick has held a number of positions including Prudential Supervisor for the State of Victoria, Chief Financial Officer of St Vincents Health, Independent Director of Women’s and Children’s Health Service and 27 years with KPMG where he was a Senior Partner and head of its Financial Services Practice.

Dr Irene Irvine, PhD Chem, BSc [Hons], DipEd, GradDip [Admin], FRACI, AICD, AFAIM
Appointed: 1 July 2004
Committees: Chair of State Trustees Limited Compliance Committee and Member of the State Trustees Remuneration Committee.
Experience: Irene is an experienced Director and currently runs her own management consulting practice. She has held a range of senior positions in business development, fundraising and strategic marketing in both the public and private sectors (including disability services). Irene is a graduate of Leadership Victoria (formerly Williamson Community Leadership Program) and devotes much of her time to not-for-profit or charity activities. She is currently Chair of the Phillip Island Nature Park Board of Management Inc., Deputy Chair of the Zoological Board of Victoria and Chair of their Remuneration and Governance Committee and a Director of Australia’s Open Garden Scheme.

Josh Bornstein, BA, LLB (Hons)
Appointed: 1 July 2010
Committees: Member of the Compliance and Remuneration Committees
Experience: Josh Bornstein is head of Maurice Blackburn’s Employment & Industrial Law Section. Josh has managed the Employment & Industrial Law practise since 1997 including overseeing its expansion into New South Wales and Queensland. His clients have included executive employees, an ASX-listed company, the ACTU and Melbourne City Council.
Josh is a director of Maurice Blackburn Pty Ltd and Per Capita Limited, and is a member of the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board and the Advisory Board of the Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law, University of Melbourne.
Between 2003-2005, he was Chairman of the Industrial Relations Committee of the Law Institute of Victoria. In 2007 he was the Chair of its Workplace Relations Section and is now an Executive member of the Section.
Josh is also a member of the editorial committee of the Australian Journal of Labour Law and a contributor to the Australian Master Workplace Relations Guide, now in its 4th edition.

Bobby Guttmann, BSC (Hons), CISA
Appointed: 1 July 2010
Committees: Member of the Investment and Remuneration Committees
Experience: Bobby has over 25 years experience in the IT industry in a variety of specialist roles including IT auditor, Architect, Analyst, and Performance tuner. He has helped organisations find smarter, more efficient ways to manage and get more out of their IT functions through the effective use of IT Software and process frameworks.
Bobby has provided consulting services to a variety of clients both in Australia and internationally, mainly in the telecommunications and energy sectors. Bobby has authored and presented papers at a number of Australian and international conferences on a variety of topics, including Performance tuning, Database Design, IT Security, and IT Governance.
Bobby also runs his own software based Mind Modelling consultancy.
In addition, Bobby is involved in various community organisations and is currently a Board member of Beit Aharon synagogue and 15th Brighton Scout Group.
