Ageing

Like many of our clients, we are concerned about social inclusion of older people, the growing incidence of dementia and its impact, and positive ageing. Sadly, financial elder abuse has become a growing issue and this is a focus of our advocacy in the ageing area.
We assist over 2000 Victorians residing in an aged care facility. We participated in an industry forum, sponsored by the Department of Human Services, to recommend changes to legislation governing supported care facilities.
We are an active member of Philanthropy Australia’s Ageing Futures Affinity Group where our Charitable Trusts team works with other philanthropists to see how the sector can have the greatest impact to support older Victorians. We have enlisted the participation of key stakeholders to develop the Ageing Framework to guide the funding decisions of trustees. This framework has helped to guide decisions for our State Trustees Australian Foundation and State Trustees community grants program, both of which fund organisations that help older people, among other categories.
And in 2010, State Trustees is proud to support the Victorian Senior of the Year Awards. You can nominate an extraordinary senior. Find out more here
